2018 Hyundai Accent vs 2018 Kia Rio

There are tons of sedans available on the market, quite a few of them belonging to the subcompact sedan segment in particular. We thought we’d attempt to help you come to a decision if you’re shopping in this segment by comparing our favorite member of the class against one of its biggest competitors, by pitting the 2018 Hyundai Accent vs 2018 Kia Rio. In order to make this comparison, we dug up a few of the most important specifications to take into consideration and compiled them into the table just below. Below, we’ll work our way through row by row to give you a better idea of exactly how these two vehicles align and differentiate from one another. Surprisingly, they’re incredible similar to one another.

Advantages of the 2018 Accent

In the first row we looked at power, which was our first glimpse of just how similar these two subcompact sedans are to one another. Both the Accent and Rio are powered by engines capable of doling out 130 horsepower. Of course, the second row shows that the Accent weights 146 lbs. less than the Kia Rio, which means it doesn’t need quite as much power, thus giving it a slight advantage over the Rio. The Rio takes an advantage of its own right back from the Accent in the third row, where we looked at combined fuel efficiency. The Rio gets an extra mile to the gallon, saving a bit of pocket change over time. In the fourth row, we get our second look at just how similar the Accent and Rio are to one another, as they both have identically sized trunks at 13.7 cu. ft.
