2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport vs 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport

Back in the 2013 model year, Hyundai introduced the Santa Fe Sport to give customers an even wider range of choices when shopping for their perfect new crossover. Last year, Nissan followed suit by introducing the Rogue Sport. We thought we’d see how these two compact crossovers measure up to one another by comparing the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport vs 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport.

2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport

vs

2018 Nissan Rogue Sport

185 HP Horsepower 141 HP
178 lb-ft. Torque 147 lb-ft.
24 MPG Combined Fuel Economy 28 MPG
35.4 cu. ft. Cargo Capacity 22.9 cu. ft.

Advantages of the 2018 Santa Fe Sport

As you can tell by taking a glance at the table just above, each crossover has its own strengths, but the Hyundai has a few more strengths than weaknesses. We thought we’d start right at the top of the table and work our way through analyzing each row to give you a better idea of why we think the Santa Fe Sport makes the best option. The first two rows kick things off looking at the vehicle’s performance, first by analyzing horsepower in which the Hyundai crossover generates 44 HP more than the Nissan Rogue Sport. 44 HP is a pretty large advantage as that’s nearly a third of the Nissan crossover’s total horsepower. Same thing goes for torque, though the advantage isn’t quite as steep at only 31 pound-feet. Regardless, the Santa Fe Sport is going to deliver a more enjoyable driving experience and will likely be more capable of hauling, towing and hitting off-road trails than the Rogue Sport. Of course, these two advantages do lead to a disadvantage for the Santa Fe Sport. The Nissan Rogue Sport achieves an extra 4 miles per gallon, meaning you’ll have to stop at the gas station far fewer times and you’ll even save some money at the pump over time. So, the main thing that sets these two vehicles apart are power vs efficiency. But to sweeten the pot in the Hyundai crossover’s favor, we look at the fourth row which depicts cargo capacity. The Rogue Sport’s cargo hold can only accommodate 22.9 cubic feet, which is 12.5 cu. ft. less than the Santa Fe Sport. If you think you might be interested in a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport of your own, be sure to schedule a test drive right here on our website or by giving us a call at the sales desk.
